My Season of Weakness! But His Grace...
I am now about to enter Week 4 of a season where I am recovering from a fracture to my fibula. It has been some time since I last felt so detached from normal life. My struggle to adapt to life in a seated position has me very much poised to rely totally on my Heavenly Father. Paul says this of his difficulty in II Corinthians 1:9, "Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead." God-shaped opportunities close the door on self-reliance, which causes a great battle to ensue, between the flesh and the Spirit! It is to our benefit to allow the flesh to be defeated and the Spirit to thrive by total surrender to God. A Scripture that is all too familiar in this season comes to mind, Solomon bids us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him (or know Him), and he will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5, 6 NIV). He has been close and has proven His faithfulness to make my path straight, and I am convinced that He who began this good work, will bring it to conclusion and see me through. But for now, I have to make a conscience decision to trust Him and glory in my weakness that the power of Christ may rest upon me (see II Corinthians 12:9). Check out the following video....
